FREE Health Screenings Through May 31, 2013

In honor of National Military Appreciation Month, Men’s Medical Institute is providing free health screenings to St. Louis Police, Fire, EMS and U.S. Military servicemen (active and retired). Now, through May 31, St. Louis veterans and public servants can visit MMi’s office and receive a free blood draw to determine levels of testosterone. MMi will also screen for various illnesses and diseases, including thyroid dysfunction, anemia and prostate cancer before symptoms occur. In addition, new patients will receive 50% off of their first month’s treatment plan.

A few, quick facts on testosterone deficiency:

  • Testosterone fuels protein production, muscle development and energy production, where levels peak at age thirty and decrease each year by one to two percent.
  • Without the proper testosterone levels, men over 30 will see a decline in muscle function, problems with concentration, sleep and mental sharpness and a decrease in stamina and endurance.
  • Recent studies reveal that low testosterone levels are associated with increased mortality in male veterans.
  • In recent years, links between low testosterone levels and obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, frailty and osteoporosis have come to light in clinical and epidemiologic studies. Even in young men, testosterone levels are positively correlated with bone size, and Low-T in men is a risk factor for hip fractures.
