Does alcohol affect how ED medicines work?

Heavy drinking can make erections harder and, combined with sildenafil or tadalafil, can increase the chance of dizziness or a drop in blood pressure. Moderation is the safer approach.

The tadalafil labeling notes that substantial alcohol intake with the medicine can increase lightheadedness, fast heartbeat or headache when standing.

If you drink regularly, mention it so your clinician can factor it in.

Risks and limitations

Sit or lie down if you feel faint, and seek care if symptoms are severe.
