The clearest difference is mechanism: one incretin pathway versus two. Both are given by injection, both are approved for chronic weight management in adults meeting defined criteria, and both are intended to be used with reduced-calorie eating and increased activity.
Their labeled indications are not identical beyond weight management, and tolerability differs from person to person. Some men manage one comfortably and struggle with the other. That is a real clinical consideration when choosing between them.
The honest answer to 'which one is better' is that the comparison worth having is about your medical history, other conditions, side-effect experience, cost and coverage. I am not willing to declare a winner in the abstract, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does.
Risks and limitations
- Both carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents.
- Head-to-head comparisons do not translate directly into an individual prediction.
- Side-effect tolerance varies substantially between individuals.
- Coverage, cost and availability often shape the practical choice.
