Healthy aging

What does NAD+ do in the body?

NAD+ is a molecule found in every cell. It helps carry energy in metabolism and is used by enzymes involved in DNA repair and cell signalling.

Laboratory and animal research has shown NAD+ levels tend to fall with age in several tissues, which has driven interest in ways to support it.

Its cellular role is well established; whether raising NAD+ improves how people feel or age is a separate question that human research is still studying.

Risks and limitations

  • The biology of NAD+ does not by itself prove that NAD+ therapy produces health benefits.
