Low testosterone

Which symptoms are most closely linked to low testosterone?

Reduced sexual desire, fewer spontaneous erections and reduced morning erections are among the more specific signs. Fatigue, low mood and reduced strength are common too, but have many other causes.

Guidelines separate more specific symptoms, mostly sexual ones, from less specific ones such as low energy, poor concentration or reduced motivation.

Because the less specific symptoms overlap with sleep problems, stress, depression and other conditions, they are a reason to be evaluated rather than proof of low testosterone.

Risks and limitations

  • Symptoms alone cannot diagnose low testosterone; labs and a clinical evaluation are needed.
